Part 2: So God loves the world?

Part 2: So God loves the world?

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son

Could I give up my one and only son?

If an adoption agency came to me and asked if they could take Jude from me and give him a different  home. I would kindly rebuke them in a very respectful and spiritual way…yeah right! But in this new home, they would guarantee a great environment where he would get an incredible education and top notch training. He would also be given all the resources in the world and that he would become famous, more famous than anyone in the world.  As he grows up and reaches the pinnacle of his fame he will be murdered and his life cut short. But because of his death and his many discoveries he will save billions of people from a life threaten virus that will destroy the whole world.

My second reaction, ah no thank you, crazy adoption agency! Get another guinea pig and stop watching the Si-Fi channel.

Can you image that being your choice? You would have to completely sever yourself from any and all selfishness. Selfish people don’t give up anything let alone their greatest treasures. How much worry and anxiety would you be riddled with? Let’s look at the pros and cons of this situation. Pro, my son becomes famous. That’s kind of cool! Con, someone else is raising him and I miss out on all of our quality time.  Big time bummer. Pro, he saves the world. Once again very cool. Con, he is murdered.  I don’t think my human brain and emotions could handle this type of colossal decision.  I can’t even get my selfishness out of the way to even weight those pros and cons. That is why God had to make this decision for us.

Think about this, God knew everything that was going to happen to Jesus and he still made that unselfish decision to send his only son to save the world from that awful destroying virus, sin. He knew about the persecution and the hate his son would receive. He saw the crown of thorns pierce his forehead and the cat of nine tails rip the skin off of his back. He felt everything before he did and God sent his son anyway.

so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Do you still question if God still loves the world? He gave up his most treasured possession for you and me so that none of us would ever perish, but would be with him for all eternity. Because of Jesus we all have been adopted into the family we are all His children. He loves us all the same. And to think he would send his ONLY son all over again even if it was just to save one person from perishing.  I can’t wait to spend eternity with him!

God loves the world more than we could ever comprehend.
